4335 touch screen frozen
metecus - 13 Jun 2009, o 00:21
" />I have a GC 4335 . After 10 days of use the touch screen is not responding after start-up.
Had no problems all the way to paris from romania. now i am stuck with it in france.
While driving it started repeating directions all over again and then lost touch screen response.
pushing reset did not solve the problem.
Any sugestions ?

If something else is broken in the system, wouldn't firmware updating void warranty ?
it is just 14 days since i got this with 1 year warranty. Even if it is a fix for now, it looks like it is a poor quality system so i stand good chance to need more servicing in the future ?!?
Also, my model is Full Europe, and i would not want to end up with something with Russia instead after ...

Yeah, I understand You.
But it's up to You.
Of course it's gonna be more better, to go to the service center. I just wrote the answer for Your forum's topic question
You have two ways in this case:
1. If You have the warranty - simply, send device to the service center. This is more easy, and everything gonna be OK with the warranty.
OR
2. Try to fix this problem by Yourself
P.S. You Can try to send the letter or open the case with the GoClever customer support

" />Tried the update firmware trick.
Not working!
A 3 color screen appears and a message
updating image 0% ... then nothing...
after restart no change ... main menu with no touch available.
update 20.06
while restarting i kept the menu button pressed and after i was allowed to push one button on the main screen.
i tried "setting" and i got to the setup menu where i did a factory reset.
I discovered firmware ver is 1.3.3.1.
when i tried the calibration for the touch screen (next button) it worked for the first central point but got stacked for not recognizing the upper left corner.
I guess the system is not dead completely but maybe some files on the internal flash could be affected (since the factory reset works only on the win CE i guess)
I am unable to repeat the previous steps. no touch reactions ..

" />Same problem here!
4335 screen frozen.
After a good period of rest (harware off for a few hours), it lets me tap a few buttons, and then, after a couple of minutes of activity, screen goes completly unresponive.
To me, it doesn't seems like a firmware problem - more like a hardware problem.
It's going to service center today, and i'll post an update here when I find out more.
Served me well for whole 5 days... Shame.

" />to me it happened out of nowhere while i was following directions. the unit just got nuts and died. It was on at the time just for about 10 minutes.
In 10 days I was not able to find one good restore procedure that can work on this unit in the half dozen forums i was following (mostly using google translate).
Goclever has the custom of releasing updates in rusian or polish support sites with no english procedure mentioned. their activesync update method is obsolete since it only works on xp.
I must still return from my trip to be able to return the unit for service... it will happen in about
one week.

This morning however, the touchscreen stopped working. I did all the stuff: soft reset, hard reset, digitizer screen and so on, and nothing worked. I then browsed around a little, and found a forum response somewhere from one who discovered, that a little piece of dust had stuck between the screen protector and the touchscreen. The pressure was just enough to constitute a input press on the touchscreen, and therefore the touchscreen did not respond to anything else. His solution was to take off the screen protector, which released the pressure.
Fortunately my brain was almost functioning again, and I had just enough mental capacity to see the similarities here: dust - sand - casing - screen protector - unresponsive touchscreen.
I found my box of business cards ( a little thicker than paper), and pushed one such corner in between the casing and the touchscreen to remove and sand corns stuck there. I was persistent - many business cards were severed in the process - but finally I must have gotten to the one sand corn that almost had me send in my beloved T650 to service. My touchscreen started responding again.Now... If you are having the same problem, treat this as inspiration. I'm pretty sure Palm1 won't condone the procedure but it worked for me
